Abstract
Preksha Thakkar will tell us how the Chernobyl virus (CIH) marked a turning point in the history of malware with its ability to target and corrupt a computer’s BIOS, rendering systems inoperable. In this session, we’ll explore the technical anatomy of the Chernobyl virus, its widespread damage in the late 1990s, and how it introduced a new frontier in cyber security threats, along with some recovery methods and knowing the constraints.
